Glyco Skincare believes in using clinically proven actives, one of which is powerful anti-oxidant, Vitamin C and below is everything you need to know about what it is and does, and which Glyco Skincare products contain it.

What is Vitamin C?

Vitamin C or in scientific parlance, L-Ascorbic Acid, has been clinically proven to revitalise skin giving it a bright, fresh and rejuvenated quality. It is an antioxidant found in fruit and vegetables, but also is part of our skin cells chemical makeup.

Vitamin C naturally exists in our skin but as we age, those Vitamin C levels drop which are then further exacerbated by free radicals in our environment such as ozone, pollution, cigarette smoke and sun exposure. Topical application exceeds the benefits of oral consumption (for skincare benefits) due to the rapid absorption rate of the acidic pH level of Vitamin C, by the skin.

Benefits of Vitamin C

Vitamin C supports the protein collagen and its production in the skin. Collagen, being the support network for our skin’s structure and as with Vitamin C, it naturally occurs in our body, however levels decrease as we age, which we witness with the appearance of fine lines, sagging skin, deeper wrinkles, a decrease in skin elasticity and dryness. It soothes pimples as it promotes wound healing and has anti-inflammatory properties.

Types of Vitamin C and Glyco products that contain them.

L-Ascorbic Acid – New Vitamin C Brightening Crème

This is the purest form of Vitamin C and is easily absorbed in its unaltered state, stimulating collagen synthesis in the skin, it is the benchmark for other forms of Vitamin C with its multitasking ability to treat skin in correcting tone, building skin structures, being anti-inflammatory, hydrating and moisturising to skin. It can be harsh on sensitive skins due to its quick absorption rate into the skin and the high amount of acidity it contains.

Emblica (Indian Gooseberry) - Advanced Collagen Rejuvenating Crème

Emblica is a fruit also known as Indian Gooseberry and has the highest amount of available L-Ascorbic Acid that possesses the ability to be an effective antioxidant, anti-inflammatory agent, reduce pigmentation, moisturise, reduce wrinkles and may possess anti-bacterial properties.

Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate (MAP) - Hydra-C Treatment Mist

A Vitamin C for all skin types particularly for those with sensitive skin as it is formulated at a low level of acidity so is less likely to cause irritation.

Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate (THDA) - Advanced Cellular Repair Serum

A stable oil soluble form of Vitamin C, it is 8 x stronger than L- Ascorbic Acid when absorbed into the skin, it works well with other skin actives.

Sodium Ascorbate - Tightening Neck Therapy

A gentle form of Vitamin C that effects positive change on skin.

Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate (SAP)
